Position Summary
The Team Lead - Water and Ecosystems will develop and manage new technologies focused on water treatment and ecosystems and land use management.
The primary focus is on understanding business units\' and capital projects\' issues and needs regarding water technology, impact to ecosystems, and environmental impacts resulting from site operations.
The position will be responsible for developing technology plans and projects to address these issues and needs, consistent with corporate policies and positions.
This position also leads the Water Network of Excellence and has accountability over the Ecosystems and Biodiversity NOE.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Team Lead - Water and Ecosystems may include:
* Working with the Water&Heavy Metals Director, developing the vision for water technology and a technology plan that will achieve that Vision.
* Coordinating the projects and efforts of Sustainability Technologies with other Technology groups (for water technology), via the Water Technology Council, to ensure an aligned corporate approach on water technology development.
* Providing leadership to ensure water technology efforts are consistent with company policies, position statements, and Water Media Leadership Team activities.
* Supervising Technology Directors who manage projects under the Ecosystem and Land Use program.
* Providing technical expertise and global asset knowledge regarding water and ecosystem technology issues.
* Working effectively with Technology, Business Unit, and Major Project partners, legal and other stakeholders, to understand water technology needs and issues, and to develop technology plans and programs to effectively address those needs and issues.
* Providing project management of selected technology projects (e.g. external projects) and water assessments.
* Monitoring and scouting technologies and future technology trends.
* Communicating implications to ConocoPhillips through routine communications, Technology Briefs, and presentations.
Qualifications
Basic/Required Qualifications
* Masters degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or closely related discipline * 10+ years of direct experience with environmental/sustainability technology issues (HSE, engineering, business unit, strategic/holistic/lifecycle management of these issues)
Preferred Qualifications
* PhD in Engineering, Environmental Science, or closely related discipline
* Upstream and Downstream experience
* Commercial - understanding of the upstream and downstream value chains (specific to water production, use and re-use), business acumen, and contracts experience
* Contracts&Negotiating - particularly related to intellectual property, secrecy agreements, vendor and joint research agreements, and research contracts with academia
* Strategic thinker - able to evaluate new ideas and programs as they relate to strategies and ConocoPhillips business objectives
* Influence Management - demonstrated effective management of a wide range of skill sets and styles across program teams and various stakeholders to deliver results
* Efficient/Energetic-capable of defining and developing new technologies/projects and able to motivate team to do same.
Self starter.
* Assertive - willing to think independently and assert/support out of the box ideas, willing to push back on ideas and provide alternatives
* Communication - ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences and at all levels, both internally and externally
* Risk Tolerance - comfortable with risks and uncertainties of new business&technology development
