Avionics Tech $27.78 hourly per CBA( DUTIES: Avionics Technician/Aircraft Mechanic III, performs scheduled/unscheduled maintenance on specific applicable VX-31 T/M/S aircraft airframe, ordnance, egress/life support system, power plants and related systems hired to maintain. Perform flight line essential services as directed to daily VX-31 Flight Schedule. Mechanic III’s shall have Naval Organizational Level experience and documented qualifications for the specific T/M/S platform that they are hired and assigned to support within VX-31. (I.E.
An F-18 power plants experienced mechanic is hired into an F-18 power plants position but then is used to fill an AV-8 power plants billet.
This is not acceptable to the customer.)Within VX-31 multiple T/M/S aircraft are utilized to accomplish Squadron tasking, currently these are F-18 A-F, AV-8, HH-1N, SH-60, AH-1 W/Z, UH-1Y, T-39, UAS’s and EA-18G airframes. T/M/S experience currency shall not be greater than 2 years old from date of last maintained applicable T/M/S aircraft assigned to maintain.
VX-31 Organizational Level maintenance experience strongly preferred and desired over other options. The Contractor maintains, repairs and modifies aircraft structures, aircraft ordnance systems, egress systems, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, aviation ordnance systems, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe, ordnance and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
The Contractor applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair, organizational level aircraft weapon/ordnance loading systems and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.
A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, engine test equipment, fuel cell test equipment, Engine/APU Turn Qual procedures, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, the CNAFINST 4790.2 series, and NALCOMIS maintenance action data documentation etc. is required.
The Contractor shall possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical project engineers and customers alike.
Must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedules.
This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records, attend AWL workload meetings, attend Shift change maintenance meetings, be responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts in support of the VX-31 Flight Schedule. QUALIFICATIONS: Mechanic III’s shall have a minimum of 10 years experience in USN/USMC/USCG Organizational Level maintenance in the specific VX-31 T/M/S hired to maintain. This experience relates to structural repairs, hydraulics, egress, ordnance or power plants/related systems. It is preferred to have 3 years T/M/S experience within the last 7 years.
VX-31 Organizational Level is most preferred experience.
Candidates are strongly desired to be a high school graduate and shall have completed the appropriate T/M/S aircraft specific Navy Skill Specialty Class "C" school in airframe, egress, hydraulic, ordnance, power plants and related systems or USMC/USCG equivalent.
Experience as T/M/S specific aircraft applicable Plane Captain, T/M/S specific aircraft Quality Assurance Representative (QAR), Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI), Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR), High/Low Engine Turn Qualified, APU Turn Qualified, Work Center Supervisor, Maintenance Material Control Supervisor, Data Analyst, Quality Assurance Safety Observer (QASO), Load Team Leader, Flight Deck Troubleshooter and Flight Deck Coordinator is strongly desired. VX-31 Organizational Level maintenance is most desired and preferred.
Shall have a valid US State Driver’s or be legally able to obtain and sustain a US Driver’s License. Be eligible to qualify for a Secret Level Clearance.
